Introduction from an Englishman.

When i first mentioned I was going to this to my friends here in England, the first thing that came out of their mouths was "That is the most American thing I have heard".....well I have censored the comments slightly....but you get the idea.

It is. I have to admit. it certainly does conjure up the idea of an Americanism.....i dont know if that's a word, but we invented the language, so im going to throw it out there.

However, I like it. It's something you guys do that we don't. You like to motivate and encourage people to complete their goals, we like to.....well not do that. When Frankie asked me about being involved in the blog, I had no hesitation in thinking about getting involved. I have so many things i wanted to do, but until I listed them I guess they were just all pipe dreams and "well, I might get to that when i'm not procrastinating."

A little about me? A 25 year old Englishman with grand ambitions, which ultimately will probably come to nothing. But I'm hopeful that this list, and other people on here will give me inspiration to stop being a lazy ba*tard. Time will tell.

Nice to meet y'all......:)

  1. Mike, nice to meet you. I understand your post entirely. I am married to a lovely, humble, self-depracating Brit.

When he's being nice to some tech desk person in Bangalore, I have to growl at him to tell them, "Yes, I do have a PhD in Computer Science with over 30 years experience in hardware and software engineering. I *DO* understand what a cookie is." He'd rather go on being polite to them for 45 minutes while they run through their manual checklist.

So here's on to add to your list. Regularly read and comment on someone else's posting. Third party praise (out where everyone can see it), is a really nice pat on the back for the recipient. You might even get a rowsing, "Cheers!" for it, although Americans think it's a bar in Boston. Let's not even get started on that brief fashion blip of a Fanny pack :) and what it means in England!
